Passionate life-long learner, artist, and scholar. Dedicated to applying my education, experience, and artistic vision to social justice efforts that build and sustain resilient communities.
We’re taught about physical health and preventative care for our bodies but have little to no exposure on how to build and maintain resilience. So many people struggle and feel alone faced with life events that strain their ability to cope. All of the above are reasons why the conversation needs to change to one of overall-holistic mental health. Building resilience does not have to be an individual effort – we are stronger as a community. But how to get people to discuss and learn about positive mental health (and how to build resilience)? Enter the concept of a mental health cafe and wellness studio.Arts are are an amazing and easy way to build resilience. Doing arts-even when you’re ‘not good at it’ has shown clinical mental and physical health benefits. We can express some things through art (painting, sculpture, dance) that we can’t with words. Art can provide openings to discuss real life issues and connect with others.
