Since high school I’ve been a serial entrepreneur–from throwing pay-to-attend parties in the desert to selling a handmade line of organic bath and body products. Over the years, I’ve found that there is nothing more exhilarating than dreaming up and launching a business.
My biggest project to date is The Chic Spy, a style and entertainment website that Launched in 2007, featuring content running the gamut from movie reviews to celebrity interviews. Just a few of the celebrities I’ve had the honor to interview include Selma Hayek, Emma Stone, Octavia Spencer and Jodi Foster. The online publication has been featured in myriad publications including TeenVogue.com and Forbes.com. I even created an observance day called Chic Spy Day, to celebrate the style of onscreen spies.
Along the way I have encountered many women entrepreneurs who are working hard to develop and grow their businesses. Many have experienced challenges stemming from financial sustainability and brand promotion, to ageism and inclusivity. Having met and worked with many of these dynamic entrepreneurs, I’ve been motivated to launch Art of Preneur.
“My goal is to bring together a community of women—entrepreneurs, journalists and investors—who can help who can help female founders master the art of entrepreneurism.”
As rewarding as it is to be an entrepreneur, it can be equally as challenging, from sleepless nights and crashing sites to slow sales. It’s even more challenging as a woman, especially if you need funding. Accord to Fortune Magazine, only 2.2% of venture capital funding went to women in 2018.
With Art of Preneur, my goal is to bring together a community of women—entrepreneurs, journalists and investors—who can help female founders master the art of entrepreneurism; and to showcase women-owned businesses whose products and services have the potential to disrupt their space in beauty, culinary, entertainment, fashion, lifestyle, media and tech.
If you are a woman entrepreneur, I hope you will join the movement and put your state on the map, as we grow our community of women entrepreneurs.
